They changed the title!

11 Jun 2010 In: 300words

I am treating myself to a barcardi-coke. Probably more then one.

I got my first (work-related) article published in a Dutch magazine about Oracle products. The article describes the success factors of implementing the packaged software solution Oracle Siebel CRM. It is written from my personal experience of 13 years of IT and it turned out pretty good. I changed jobs April 1st 2010 and my new employer, which is focused on the Dutch market wanted more exposure and asked me to write an article. I had never done this before, and frankly never had the desire to do so. I am not much of a reader, except for the countless pages of architecture and design documents, and the multitude of 300 words I read as a result of my commitment to this initiative. My journey

10 Jun 2010 In: 300words

I used to be an extreme black & white thinker. All or nothing. Life, then death. Nothing.

At the time it seemed to be an easy way of living life. Everything was random. Nothing happened for a reason. I could not be blamed for anything that I experienced.

Humans were born evil, and some turned into loving human beings. Naïve creatures. Read the rest of this entry »

On my way to my shadows

10 Jun 2010 In: 300words
So here I am. Committed to write 300 words every single day. But why? Is it because @gapingvoid is one of the initiators? I do like his drawings, especially the ones where  ’The blue monster’ expresses the wisdom of Hugh. Or is it because of @MartijnLinssen who joined almost instantly? Our paths crossed each other again on Twitter. I enjoy his blog and his outspoken perspective on life in general. I have to admit they both influence me in a positive way, but not to the extend that I follow them in everything they do.
I am also not doing it because I’m a professional writer or aspiring to be one. I only write on my blog when I’m really inspired and the words flow naturally from my mind onto the screen. But I can assure you that it’s not every day that I bask in true enlightenment. Read the rest of this entry »

300 Words a day

10 Jun 2010 In: News

Two days ago I committed to an initiative to write 300 words per day. It’s a great idea and I am happy I did. To keep track of my daily 300 I will post them also on this blog under a dedicated category brilliantly named: 300words. If you feel challenged, or just feel the joy of it, don’t hesitate, signup and and become a contributor.

Happy reading.

I am

17 May 2010 In: Personal

This weekend I encountered some ‘heavy contrast’. I will not go into the specifics, but I did not enjoy the experience very much. Now that I have had the chance…or wait…now that I chose to put it all in perspective I really appreciate the experience to the fullest. But before I reached to place where I was able to do that, I had to go back to the basics of existence: I am.

‘I am’ is the state of being that just is. It is the basis of your existence from which all experience comes forth. For myself, it is a very powerful state of being as it resembles a state of deep mediation in which the mind is quiet and asks no questions but just holds the answer: I am. Lately, I get a lot of inspiration from all around me. I must feel really inspired, otherwise I would not be attracting it so much. I am not complaining, as I thrive when I am inspired. It is a great state of being in which I feel my expansion on a vibrational  level.

I am of the generation that grew up in the period that internet transformed into a mainstream phenomenon. So, I know life without Social Media as we know it today. I did not have my online profile scattered on sites like Facebook and Twitter  and did not think about posting videos online. The content of websites was pretty much static, and any interaction with the authors was by email. And that was only the case when the author was bold enough to share his/her email address. So, did I not interact at all online? Hell yeah I did! Read the rest of this entry »

The Golden Circle Experiment

7 May 2010 In: Inspiration, Personal

Yesterday I was inspired by the Golden Circle concept of Simon Sinek when I watched him explain it in a TED video. And when I get inspired the subject tends to stick in my mind. Even better said, my mind has awoken to the subject which I already knew. So today the Why, How and What of the Golden Circle concept kept popping up in everything I experienced today.

In ordinary life I am a solution architect, so I spend my working days helping customers to a successful IT implementation as part of a bigger business change program. Today I had an interesting discussion about design documents and how they relate to each other and what information they should include in order for the readers to understand the context. During the conversation it became clear to me that the Golden Circle concept would greatly enhance the success of IT implementations. Read the rest of this entry »

People Do It For Themselves

5 May 2010 In: Inspiration

Today I watched this great inspiring video on TED (included below). Simon Sinek, a marketing consultant, talks about the Golden Circle, which is his model of explaining why some have success and others don’t. The Golden Circle concept consists of three circles of which the first one represents the ‘Why’, the second one the ‘How’ and the last one the ‘What’. Read the rest of this entry »

Quote of Attraction

(click on quote to refresh)

You are always molding yourselves into a better feeling place. And you will never get it done. It will never be completely finished. It will never be absolutely right. You will always have some dominant thoughts that are not a vibrational match to the newfound desire. But that is always what your work is. And it's time for you to just begin relaxing about it, and not make it a personal issue of your own valor, or your own value, or your own integrity. In other words, it's just, how many times have I thought this thought?”
