Lately, I get a lot of inspiration from all around me. I must feel really inspired, otherwise I would not be attracting it so much. I am not complaining, as I thrive when I am inspired. It is a great state of being in which I feel my expansion on a vibrational level.
I am of the generation that grew up in the period that internet transformed into a mainstream phenomenon. So, I know life without Social Media as we know it today. I did not have my online profile scattered on sites like Facebook and Twitter and did not think about posting videos online. The content of websites was pretty much static, and any interaction with the authors was by email. And that was only the case when the author was bold enough to share his/her email address. So, did I not interact at all online? Hell yeah I did!
In 1994 I first connected to people around the world using IRC (Internet Relay Chat) on a Macintosh connected to the internet. This was in the period I was studying Molecular Microbiology at the Vrije University of Amsterdam. Six years later I met my wife online. At that time MSN Messenger was da bomb and Napster started to ‘kill the music industry’. The internet, or ‘the web’, was getting a bit more interactive by internet forums. The term Social Media entered the realm of internet probably around the year 2004, when the whole world started blogging. A decent definition of Social Media is given by Susan Ward:
Social media essentially is a category of online media where people are talking, participating, sharing, networking, and bookmarking online. Most social media services encourage discussion, feedback, voting, comments, and sharing of information from all interested parties.
It’s more of a two-way conversation, rather than a one-way broadcast like traditional media. Another unique aspect of social media is the idea of staying connected or linked to other sites, resources, and people.
This definition captures the basics: To Connect. And in this context I saw the following video:
The whole world is connecting more and more. This is a beautiful thing. More and more people are not hiding their true identity anymore behind some creative username. And this is all made possible by the ever faster developing technology. But I notice also an increase in real connection between people. There has never been a time in where you could find people with similar ideas so easy and co-create. These people connect not only by technology, but also by spirit.
We live in a time were we are on the verge of shifting into a more positive oriented world. I believe that the extensive way we are now able to connect by technology will lead us into an era were we will be able to connect spiritually without having to press a ‘Follow’ button.

RT @patrickbrinksma Ppl already connected spiritually. Light is stablest way 2 send signals. Technology uses light. Spirit is LIGHT! Dr.Tech
It made me realize me how connected technology and spirituality really have become, and this intertwining will continue and our world will change rapidly. The coming years will be an amazing time. Thank you for sharing this perspective @Dr_KMM.
