I am

This weekend I encountered some ‘heavy contrast’. I will not go into the specifics, but I did not enjoy the experience very much. Now that I have had the chance…or wait…now that I chose to put it all in perspective I really appreciate the experience to the fullest. But before I reached to place where I was able to do that, I had to go back to the basics of existence: I am.

‘I am’ is the state of being that just is. It is the basis of your existence from which all experience comes forth. For myself, it is a very powerful state of being as it resembles a state of deep mediation in which the mind is quiet and asks no questions but just holds the answer: I am.

I deliberately choose that state of being when I have no other means to reach clarity over the contrast I am experiencing. It is the basis of clarity. In the ‘I am’ state of being there are no questions, there is no doubt and there is no fear. In the ‘I am’ state of being there is only clarity, appreciation and love. It is the point of view from which I can choose my thoughts deliberately: I am.

The way I get in the ‘I am’ state of being is very simple, but I have to do it deliberately. I isolate myself from any distractions and take very deep breaths. And after every third breath I say out loud “I am!”. I was first doubtful if the saying out loud part was necessary, but I find it very powerful. To hear my voice say “I am” helps me to focus, relax my mind and return to the basis of existence: I am.

I would really like to know what you do when you hit a hurricane of contrast which blows you off your feet and you are unable to get clarity and your thoughts are everywhere but where you want them to be. I greatly appreciate your sharing.

    I am That I am – easily said, not done ;-)
    I still don't know what you mean by 'contrast' but I loosely translate it as 'shit', so I hope it hit the fan and will now grow fruits!

    Funny how you developed your way of retrieving your Self, sounds quite easy. I used to have to be alone and breathe and all that, but nowadays all I need to do is smile, and relax – where ever I am. But I need a trigger moment to become aware, because I can't simply BE all the time

    @Martijn:
    It's your believe that “I am That I am” is not easily done. Actually it is the most easy thing to do, as you already are. And I think that is experienced as the big struggle: Letting go. Letting go of control.

    Contrast for me is a strongly focused experience of wanted and unwanted, which are at the opposite side of the same stick. You find yourself in a situation in which you experience something really unwanted. At that exact moment you know more clearly what you DO want. That is contrast. And in the moment of experiencing that contrast it does not feel that good. But at the same time your non-physical (Soul, Source, Self) expands to become that what is wanted. That part I can now really appreciate as I know that I only have to allow myself (physical focused part) to get there.

    I learned this method (breathing, relax, using your voice) of Bashar (http://www.bashar.org). I listened to a couple of sessions and got really inspired, and has taken me to the next level. Well, at least that's how I experience it. :-).

    As soon as you recognize “God” (I am) in everything. (per Spinoza
    ) Everything is infused with spirit. Life is a constant communion with the divine Light, or cosmic energy that flows through everything. Everything shimmers with that loving light. Everything. That rock, that tree, that cloud, that blade of grass. Problems disappear because everything exists within the Light. There is nothing else.

What's this?
